The Parliamentary Service of Ghana is currently inviting all suitably qualified persons to apply to fill the vacancy: Senior Research Officer (MPS Research Assistants Coordination And External Research Collaboration)
Job Summary:
Scope of work includes supervising and coordinating search assignments of Research Assistants of Members of Parliament, assisting in the execution of collaborative research projects designed to support the effective discharge of the constitutional mandate of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Leadership, and Members of Parliament.
Main Duties:
Position holder shall provide support to the Clerk and Management of the Service through the Director of Research, by performing the following duties:
- provide inputs, guidance, and directions to MPs’ Research Assistants in the planning designing, development, and execution of research projects pertaining to the development of MPs’ constituencies.

- develop standard procedures, manuals, and templates for support the presentation of data, information, and research findings to facilitate the work of Members of Partiament.
- work with MPs’ Research Assistants to develop and maintain a database of relevant socio economic data and information on all constituencies in Ghana
- provide inputs and guidance to MPs’ Research Assistants in the preparation of Statements, Speeches, Brief, and other Analytical Papers to enhance the work of individual Members of Parliament
- develop and implement quality control measures and ethical standards to guide the conduct of research by MPs Research Assistants
- collaborate with research institutions, civil society organization and no -governmental organisations, and Academia to undertake research projects for the purposes of providing various research services to aid the evidence-informed decision making of Parliament.
- provide a platform for the dissemination of information and research findings to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Leadership, Members of Partiament, and Committees of Parliament.

Qualification & Experience
- A good First degree in any Social Sciences or a relevant subject area from a recognised university with a minimum nine (9) years relevant post qualification experience with at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director I in the Public Service;
or
- A Master’s degree preferably a Master of Philosophy Degree in the relevant subject area with at least six (6) years post-qualification experience with at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director I in the Public Service.
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, STATA etc)
Age Limit:
An applicant should not be above fifty (50) years of age on the date of appointment to the post.
