Job Description

  • Direct Reports: Electrical Technician

Job Purpose

The incumbent will supervise the design, installation, maintenance of the plant and electrical equipment and ensure that the plant and infrastructure is built to design specifications in line with regulatory and company standards and to achieve the required project milestones.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strictly adhere to Namdini Health, Safety and Environmental Standards and assist in the development and implementation of procedures that ensure that Namdini’s safety, environmental and programming standards are attained.
  • Solve Electrical Medium and Low Voltage specific design and construction execution problems and ensure that the plant and infrastructure are built to design specifications.
  • Review all engineering design plans, performing complex calculations, designing, and constructing electrical systems, controls, and their components including selection of electrical equipment types, cable sizes and protection.
  • Assist in coordinating with electrical and instrumentation equipment vendors, to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Analyzes technical drawings, interpreting specifications, and determining the electrical requirements of a given project. This includes effectively using CAD software to draft designs.
  • Manage and monitor all assigned electrical projects and contractors by ensuring quality assurance and writing technical reports.

  • Performing electrical installations in various circuits including medium and low voltage systems.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)
  • Degree / Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Certified Wiring Professional or Inspector by the Energy Commission.
  • Minerals Commission Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competency is a must.
  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License B
  • Registered member of the Ghana Institute of Engineering will be an advantage.
Experience (Minimum)
  • 7 years of working experience in gold mineral processing with at least 5 years in a Senior Electrical/Instrumentation Management role including large-scale fixed asset management experience.
  • Experience in logic controller: ALLEN-BRADLEY 1756 Series PLC or SIEMENS S7-1500 Series PLC will be an advantage
Knowledge (In-depth)
  • Possesses an analytical mind and a high level in high voltage line construction testing, maintenance, and switch gears.
  • In-depth knowledge of motors, transformers, VSD and soft starters, control wiring and industrial electrical installation systems.
  • Understanding of requirements for electrical systems in gold processing plants class society rules and knowledge of other international codes and standards such as IEC, ATEX, etc.
  • Familiarity with project design concepts, procedures, and tools
Skills
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and superb mindset in managing contractors and Technicians.
  • Strong PLC programming, SCADA systems and networking skills
  • Strong in instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience with CAD software and MS Office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
