Job Description

Job Purpose

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of Process Control Systems and Instrumentation in line with Company policy and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Instrumentation and control specific design and construction execution problems and ensure that the plant and infrastructure are built to design specifications.
  • Analyze current equipment, identify areas of inefficiency, and needs for improvement; design and develop instrumentation and control systems to meet those needs.
  • Collaborates with senior engineers and supervisors to develop accurate, efficient equipment and instrumentation in accordance with safety and usability standards and client expectations.
  • Review all engineering design plans, performing calibrations, designing, and constructing instrumentation systems and their components.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring all assigned instrumentation and control projects and contractors including installation, calibration, repairs, programming, and process control systems.
  • Ensure instrumentation and control system standards and procedures are adhered to by completing quality assurance on all PLC, low voltage, instrumentation and control components and projects, and writing up reports.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)
  • Degree / Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Certified Wiring Professional or Inspector by the Energy Commission.
  • Minerals Commission Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competency is a must.
  • Registered member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers or a professional Engineering body.
  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License B
Experience (Minimum)
  • 8 years of working experience in gold mineral processing with at least 5 years in an Electrical/Instrumentation/Process Controls role including large-scale fixed asset management experience.
  • Operational experience in logic controller: ALLEN-BRADLEY 1756 Series PLC or SIEMENS S7-1500 Series PLC will be an advantage.
Knowledge (In-depth)
  • Possess analytical mind and appreciable level in PLC programming language and Scada systems.
  • In-depth knowledge in instrumentation and control system.
  • Ability to analyze PID and PFDs
  • Appreciable level knowledge in Low Voltage and control wiring systems.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA configuration and project development.
  • Familiar with project design concepts, procedures, and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge in PLC programming, networking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong skills in configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of variable speed drives.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and MS Office Suite.
