Job Summary
- To support the clinicians team in the delivery of patient services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
- The healthcare support worker will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main duties of the job
- New patient health checks
- NHS Health Checks
- ECG recording
- Phlebotomy
- Spirometry
- Chaperoning duties
- Assist with Anticoagulation Clinics
- Home visits to patients
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
- Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.

Experience
Essential
- Min 1 Year experience in working in a GP practice
Desirable
- More than 1 Year of experience working as Health Care Support Worker / Health Care Assistant in a GP practice
Language
Essential
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable
- Be able to speak more languages i.e., Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali.
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE or equivalent
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
Desirable
- Qualified to NVQ level 3
