The purpose of the role, is to carry out legal research and draft legal opinion, and review legal documents for AGAG and other subsidiaries. The role holder will assist with the company’s Secretarial duties including coordinating Board meetings, drafting Board papers and writing minutes for all entities as well as provide support in managing and reporting the company’s cases effectively by actively working closely with external counsel to reduce the cases on the litigation register

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the culture across the department and with own team regarding Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainable Development.
- Enforce all environmental work procedures that have been issued by the Departmental Manager.
- Attend all scheduled and assigned environmental training meetings.

- Attend meetings and liaise with statutory regulatory bodies including the Minerals Commission, Lands Commission and Environmental Protection Agency.
- Monitor external counsel and negotiate legal fees, to ensure that the company obtains value for money.
- Conduct training for directors of the SDUs on the roles and obligations as directors as well as training for a section of management, on contracts and how to avoid risks in the contracting process
