Job Summary

Premier Poultry Limited is seeking to hire a highly motivated and skilled Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) officer. Working closely with the managing director, all departments and group ESG manager the ESG officer is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and reporting all ESG practices. He/she will specifically focus on implementing ESG standards and controls, set up ESG management systems to achieve compliance of national and international requirements and standards as well as support management and staff to manage potential risks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for management of ESG activities across all company operations.
  • Implementing the ESG standards adopted by the company.
  • Ensuring that all activities carried out by Premier Poultry are complying with environmental standards and other related compliance obligations.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the company’s environmental and social management system.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, in accordance with international standards to create a safe working environment within Premier Poultry.
  • Provide regular training to company staff on occupational health and safety, E&S risks, ESMS and related topics.
  • Ensuring the coordination and integration of E&S risk management procedures with the Uzima management process.
  • Evaluating new projects against national and international standards and develop required due diligence reports and documentations.
  • Conducting regular field inspections including quarterly and annual E&S audits for compliance against industry best practices.
  • Producing required department reports for management, group and investors.
  • Working closely with the Group ESG Manager to implement company ESG standards.
  • Land Selection and acquisition by identifying suitable locations and following up the land acquisition process by securing the title deeds.
  • Liaising with architects, engineers and internal staff to develop site plans and building designs.
  • Conducting regular site visits to ensure work quality is compliant and up to expectation.
  • Company projects management, installation and maintenance by implementing regular inspection, preventive maintenance and monitoring programs.
  • Monitoring, evaluation and reporting by making monthly summary reports on the progress of the projects and making advisory reports to the Managing Director based on the current ongoing and forecasted projects.
  • Performing any other task assigned by the Line Manager

Required Skills or Experience

Education Qualifications and Requirement

  • Degree in Environmental health, Environmental Science or ESG related fields.
  • Minimum two years of similar experience.
  • Basic computer skills, especially MS Office skills (Moderate to high proficiency in Excel will be an added value.
