The Women Support and Activist Group (WOSAG) is a women-led women’s rights local NGO established to provide services in a wide range of areas in development targeting the rights, challenges and self-identified priorities of women, particularly in Northern Ghana. WOSAG works with women’s groups, local communities, and development partners to improve the quality of life of women and other vulnerable groups through grassroots institutional capacity building, the promotion of human rights, and securing rights and access to the sustainable use and management of natural resources. Over the years we have worked with thousands of women to transform their lives.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will provide oversight responsibility and guide the implementation and management of projects at WOSAG. The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of WOSAG programme activities to a high standard and maintaining close and productive relationship with staff, donors, partners, communities, government agencies, and the governing board.

Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate must be geared towards these duties
Technical responsibilities
- Support organizational and Programme development and direction including revising strategies, developing funding proposals and maintaining partnerships both externally and locally. Lead WOSAG to secure funding and partnerships both locally and externally
- Lead in responding to call for applications or proposals for funding that falls in line with WOSAG programme implementation areas, vision and mission.
- Support Project staff and partners to develop the capacity of local structures and local committees to deliver on outcomes at the community level
- Oversee effective monitoring and learning from programme activities. One of the Executive Director’s most important roles will be to monitor programme implementation in order to ascertain goals and expected outcomes are achieved.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines
- Provide assistance to manage relevant website content, create and grow social media presence/profiles and improve WOSAG visibility
- Work to ensure that the organization is legally compliant and in good standing with regulatory authorities.
Relationship and project management
- Coordinate the work of, and maintain strong working relationships with, local communities, partners, government agencies and other partners in order to ensure that project activities advance in a smooth and timely manner. The Executive Director will be responsible for coordinating effective key stakeholder involvement in planning, implementation and learning from programme activities. The Executive Director will also organize regular meetings of all stakeholders in order to secure periodic updates on activities, identify deviations from the work plan, and agree corrective actions.
- Project management and administration. In conjunction with finance and administration staff, the Executive Director will manage financial, contractual, and operational aspects of the Programme. S/he will liaise and coordinate with the finance/administration staff to review financial performance analysis, ensure timely resolution of financial discrepancies and support preparation of financial projections as needed. S/he will ensure compliance with donor and relevant country legislative requirements, monitor performance against work plan deadlines, and will coordinate technical quarterly and annual reporting as required by the Board and donors.
- Reporting. The Executive Director will be responsible for collecting data on process, changes and results performance indicators and reporting them to the Board, partners and donors as and when required.
External relations
Manage WOSAG’ external relations and dissemination efforts in-country. Sharing knowledge generated by our work is one of the key objectives of WOSAG. The Executive Director will support this objective by serving as the chief project spokesperson; following WOSAG’s guidelines for communication and organizing various channels to both receive input from important stakeholders in areas related to our work. The Executive Director will also lead advocacy efforts and network with like minded agencies to advocate on relevant issues to a larger audience.

Required Skills or Experience
- At least 5 years implementing development projects/programmes, 3 of which are in a field management capacity
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience leading collaborative processes with diverse participants
- Deep knowledge of youth development and protection issues in Ghana
- Ideal candidates will have experience working with Government agencies, local authorities, international development organizations, poverty reduction and development trends in the Northern Ghana in particular and Ghana in general.
- Masters degree in relevant field preferred; else Bachelors plus equivalent work experience
- Self-starter; takes ownership of deliverables and drives project results whilst at the same time take inputs from staff and partners
- Manages through influence; deploys strong persuasive skills and motivates sustained staff and partner enthusiasm
- Enthusiastic about working at a detailed implementation level as well as taking a high-level strategic view of project operations
- Comfort interfacing with diverse stakeholders including high-level policy makers, professionals from various fields, and project beneficiaries/communities
- Public speaking and presentation skills crucial.
