Job Summary
The Markets and Agri-business Specialist for the Prosper III project has the overall responsibility of designing the agribusiness and markets access for all farming and farming-related commercial activities within the project objectives. This should include providing technical support and facilitating the implementation of project activities in relation to input and output market linkages and agri-business development for participants of the project communities.

The Markets and Agribusiness Specialist will report directly to the Project Manager; and cover project implementation in PROSPER III project districts in Ashanti, Western, Western North and Central Regions.
Key Responsibilities
- The Markets and Agri-business Specialist for the Prosper III project has the overall responsibility of designing the agribusiness and markets access for all farming and farming-related commercial activities within the project. This should include providing technical support and facilitating the implementation of project activities in relation to input and output market linkages and agri-business development for participants of the project communities.
- Provide technical support to partners and smallholder farmers to effectively engage with the identified markets within the specific value chains.
- Develop market-based approaches to improving the farmers access to agricultural inputs (improved seeds, pesticides, etc).
- Promote agro entrepreneurs among women and youth groups through training and promote women’s participation at all levels of the value chains.
- Conduct gendered value chain mapping for food and agriculture products and identifying possible points of intervention to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Undertake continuous market scanning to identify emerging market opportunities to inform inclusive market-based programme design.

Required Skills or Experience
Education
- Required: Degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture or Natural Resource Management
- Desired: Master’s degree in social sciences, Agriculture or Natural Resource Management
Experience
- 5 years of relevant experience in Ghana’s forestry and agriculture sectors
- Experience in working with local communities, partnership with local NGOs and District Assemblies structures.
- Demonstrated capacity in at least two of the following areas: equity and diversity; vulnerability, governance, and institution capacity building; poverty alleviation; and conflict resolution.
- Proven competencies in designing and conducting training and workshops.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet)
- Excellent spoken and written English.
