Project Summary
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a United States-based non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA designs, rigorously evaluates, and refines these solutions and their applications together with decision-makers to ensure that the evidence created is used to improve opportunities for the world’s poor.

IPA is seeking experienced enumerators to conduct an in-person interview with farmers in communities in the following regions: Ashanti, Greater Accra, Bono East, Volta, Oti, Savana, Northern, Northeast, Upper East and Upper West. The Field Enumerator will play a crucial role in collecting accurate and timely data for an agricultural research project. They will be responsible for conducting face-to-face interviews with respondents, following established protocols and guidelines, and track respondents within the designated communities. The preferred enumerators should be able to administer questionnaire fluently in any/combination of the following languages: Akan, Buili, Chamba, Dagari, Dangme, Dagbani, Ewe, Frafra, Gonja, Kassem, Krusal, Mampruli, Nabt, Talen, Sissala, Wali. The ability to speak multiple languages proficiently is an advantage but not a must.

  • Job description: The Enumerators will conduct phone surveys with farmers in the areas listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys in assigned communities.
  • Live within assigned districts or field stations during the period of the survey
  • Plan daily routes and schedules to optimize efficiency and coverage.
  • Daily tracking of respondents within the community
  • Maintain accurate records of fieldwork activities and progress.
  • Foster a healthy team spirit
  • Ensure accurate and complete data entry into designated systems.
  • Submit completed interviews to designated server
  • Review and verify data collected for accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and resolve any inconsistencies or errors.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve data audit feedback issues
  • Submit daily or weekly outputs/work reports to immediate supervisor.
  • Submit prompt deliverable invoices for verification and payment.
  • Submit report on relevant data collection issues to immediate supervisors for reviews
  • Adhere to all IPA survey and data protocols to maintain data quality.
  • Adhere to all covid-19 protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service.
  • Promptly respond to contact from the Research Associate, Field Manager, Senior Research Quality Associate or other IPA staff.
  • Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.

Required Skills or Experience

Skills or Experience

  • First degree or its equivalent from a reputable institution with at least one-year field/data collection experience
  • Should be familiar with Computer Assisted Interview (CAI) or keen to learn.
  • Familiarity with administering interviews using SurveyCTO is an added advantage.
  • Should be fluent in English
  • Should be fluent and able to translate questionnaire in any or combination of the following languages: Akan, Buili, Chamba, Dagari Dangme, Dagbani, Ewe, Frafra, Gonja, Kassem, Krusal, Mampruli, Nabt, Talen, Sissala, Wali
  • Should be willing to travel and work in remote communities.
  • Ability to speak a combination of languages of specific geographical location will be of great advantage

Note:

  • There will be an aptitude test and interviews for external shortlisted candidates
  • Trainees who perform best at the surveyor training will be considered for team leader and auditor positions.
  • Being resident of the above-mentioned districts is preferable
