Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Work in close collaboration with the Technical Cooperation and Capacity Development team, namely, the Programme Manager, Readiness and Technical Cooperation Manager, Global Breast Cancer Initiative,  for the roll-out of the city program.
  • Support administrative activities related to the city program as required, including expenditure compliance with C/Can policies.

Project execution:

  • Support and motivate local project teams on operational and city-related tasks to ensure timely and quality completion of projects, within scope and budget, and  in compliance with C/Can’s relevant policies (e.g. engagement framework, procurement and donations). 
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Review, draft, edit and finalise documents to advance contracting of various local vendors, consultants or purchases required for the cities and the region.

Project monitoring, evaluation and reporting:

  • Monitor program risks, and produce program reports for managers and stakeholders
  • Track project performance using appropriate C/Can systems and tools for monitoring and evaluation, i.e. C/Can Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework.
  • Participate in global meetings for exchanges and to provide progress updates on the implementation and execution of city project plans.
  • Support the development of project communication materials, case studies, best practices and recommendations as required to foster knowledge-sharing and promote C/Can’s work for the region.

Required education and work experience

  • University degree in related health areas or business, management, development or social studies, finance/economics with strong knowledge of the health sector.
  • Project Management certification (e.g. CAPM, PMP or PRINCE II).
  • Proven working experience in a program management role with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in public health and/or other social sectors
  • Broad understanding of healthcare systems; specific knowledge in oncology preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Languages:
  • English is required.

  • Partnership management: awareness of stakeholders’ interests and backgrounds, and ability to adapt to different working styles
  • Negotiation and communication: communicates effectively across all levels of understanding and ability to communicate key messages and motivate. Generates consensus through their work.
  • Geopolitical awareness: in-depth knowledge and understanding of local social and political realities and dynamics, using appropriate strategies to create buy-in. Understanding of the healthcare system and how it integrates with policy development at national level
  • Personal effectiveness and mindset: proactively finds innovative and creative solutions, resilient and acts with integrity. Shows passion about C/Can’s mission and contributes to the reputation of C/Can in the city.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks and multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with a global team located in different time zones.
