Reporting directly to the CEO, this position is integral to the Wassa Leadership Team, playing a vital role in providing the highest level of supply and contract expertise and broader business governance, support and advice. Important requirements of the role are delivery of robust inventory management, cost reduction through effective sourcing strategies, contract management and compliance as well as overall management of the supply department including systems and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide leadership and develop and execute strategy across all inbound and outbound logistics
- Collaborate with each internal function and ensure an effective supply chain service is delivered
- Identify synergies and opportunities to drive sustained improvements across an evolving network
- Manage planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets and savings forecasts
- Ensure performance reporting is clearly visible and understood by each team member and how each KPI relates to Supply Chain’s overall business objectives
- Engage and continuously work with suppliers to maximize the effectiveness of Wassa inventory investments and/or delivery expectations
- Review supplier agreements to ensure knowledge of any opportunities which may exist within a particular suppliers
- Leverages knowledge of systems and cross-functional processes to deliver continuous improvement and efficiencies
- Monitor and report internal and supplier performance, quality issues and development actions
- Set clear performance goals for all areas and report on these regularly to key stakeholders
- Provide accounting and financial assistance for cost control, establishment of budgets and project reviews with functional managers

Qualification Required & Experience
- Bachelor degree with a minimum of at least 15 year management experiences in commercial areas
- At least 5 years management experience in a similar role
- Extensive experience in a supply/procurement positions in the mining sector
- Experiences in mining or similar industries in Africa region and China is preferable
- Understanding of the Chinese supply market and having already an established network would be well regarded
- Membership of a Supply Chain and Logistics Association is desirable
- A demonstrated track record of developing strong and effective relationship with key stakeholders
- Ability to mentor and develop a diverse team with broad skills, flexibility and capacity
- A personal commitment to safety through visible leadership, and in your own behaviours and interactions
- Must be fluent in English
- Able to speak Mandarin would be well regarded but not essential.
This is a renewable fixed term position. The onsite camp facilities at Wassa include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, sports bar convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, swimming pool and a fully equipped medical Center.
