ABOUT THE ROLE

The Auto Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and technical issues, as well as conducting regular inspections and implementing preventive maintenance measures.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct regular inspections of the entire vehicle fleet, including trucks, vans, cars, or any other specialized vehicles used in our transportation operations.
  2. Perform or supervise routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the vehicles.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and technical issues with vehicles and implement appropriate repairs promptly.
  4. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of necessary spare parts and consumables for maintenance and repairs.
  5. Work with the Fleet and Logistics Coordinator to create and maintain comprehensive maintenance schedules to ensure timely servicing and adherence to preventive maintenance protocols.
  6. Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, costs incurred, and work performed.
  7. Stay updated with the latest advancements in vehicle technology, maintenance practices, and industry standards to enhance operational efficiency and comply with regulatory requirements.
  8. Address maintenance-related concerns and provide technical support when needed.
  9. Uphold the Quality Management & OHSE systems and work in conformance with the roles as specified.
  10. Must uphold the Quality Management System (QMS) and work in conformance with the roles as specified in the Departmental Manual.
  11. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • HND Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Technician Part 2 or similar with at least five years’ experience in a similar role with a recognized organization.
  • Bsc. Mechanical Engineering with 5 years’ experience in a similar role with a recognized organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Technical, accurate and detailed
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and the ability to develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
