As the United Nations lead agency on international development, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana is working across the 16 regions of the Country. within the framework of the Government-UN Sustainable Development Partnership (UNSDP), which responds to Ghana’s development priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace and Partnerships by 2030.
UNDP contributes to the achievement of Ghana’s Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development Policies (2017-2024) and the Ghana Beyond Aid Charter towards Ghana@100 (2057). UNDP in Ghana focuses its development interventions on three main programme areas, and these are Governance and Peace Building, Environment and Climate Action, and Inclusive Development.
A dynamic UNDP team in Ghana, actively collaborating with partners and communities, is seeking to hire a Finance Associate to expedite sustainable development efforts.

The Finance Associate ensures the effective functioning of financial operations and systems in support of the programme and office management. He/she works closely with programme staff, providing financial monitoring and analysis of programmes and advising managers on expenditure trends and implementation rates.
The Finance Associate delivers quality financial services to internal and external clients, mastering all relevant rules, guidelines, processes, and procedures. He/she takes a client-oriented, results-focused approach to interpreting the rules, procedures and guidelines in service of the country programme; providing support and guidance to the Country Office and UNDP supported programmes.
The Finance Associate reports directly to the Finance Analyst (Head of Finance).
The Finance team supports the Country Office (CO) in the promotion of its sustainable development agenda by continuously enhancing CO financial performance, delivering sound management of financial resources, and ensuring strong accountability through informed decision making, effective financial management processes, and transparent financial reporting that complies with international standards and regulatory guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures implementation of operational and financial management strategies, and adapts processes and procedures in achieving desired results.
- Support functioning of the optimal cost-recovery system put in place by the office.
- Manage project budgets, provide programme management, accounting and administrative support to the operations of both the Operations and Programmes Units.
- Ensure proper functioning of Country Office Cash and Treasury management systems.
- Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the County Office
Required Skills and Experience
Education
- Completion of secondary education with specialized certification in accounting and/or finance.
- A university degree in finance or accounting is desirable.
- Part and full qualified accountants from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage.
- Candidates without certification but with relevant experience must complete the UNDP Finance Training and Certification Programme (FTCP), if recruited.

Min. years of relevant work experience
- 6 years (Senior High School) or
- 3 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience at the national or international level is required.
Required skills
- Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and web-based management systems such as ERP financials and database packages.
- Knowledge in Quantum is a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of IPSAS and/or IFRS is desired.
Language Requirements
• Fluency in the UN language of the duty station is required.
• Fluency in the national language of the duty station is required for local staff.
