Job Summary
As our Healthcare Professional, you will be an integral part of the Projects Abroad team, working closely with our staff, communities and partner hospitals to ensure our volunteers have a practical, educational and meaningful experience on their Medical Project.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating a learning experience for our volunteers and interns at their hospital placement. This should be achieved through observation and practical work, as well through designing and teaching a syllabus of medical based workshops on a daily basis.
- Standardise and solidify the role of the volunteer at the hospital and ensure weekly schedules are in place to encourage department rotation.
- Devise and implement a plan to tackle the common volunteer feedback relating to the volunteer’s role at the hospital and the amount of time spent working towards their individual learning objectives.
- Regularly visit hospital placements to check up on volunteers and liaise with resident doctors. Based on the feedback, practical actions need to be implemented to improve the experience for the volunteers and hospital staff.
- Plan, implement and supervise weekly medical outreach projects and health campaigns, involving both local communities and schools.

- Assess and improve the volunteer induction in order to clearly define the role of the volunteer and understand their expectations. It is crucial that the volunteers clearly understand their role and that their time at the hospital is put to good use.
- Develop and monitor worthwhile campaigns alongside partner hospitals, local NGO’s and government departments.
- Maintain effective and constructive communication with your fellow Healthcare Professionals, sharing your knowledge, success stories and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular assessments of each medical placement to ensure they remain suitable for our volunteers. When necessary, you will be required to create partnerships with new medical placements in the country.
- Alongside the Country Director, you’ll be required to plan and manage the medical project budget on a monthly basis.
- Assist interns and elective students with any support and paperwork they need for their university requirements.
- Ensure all information about our medical and healthcare placements is up to date and accurate across our online platforms.

Location
80% indoors – 20% outdoors
Environmental Conditions:
This position will largely take place within hospitals, indoor workspaces and in local communities and schools.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience
- Qualified and Licensed Medical Doctor, Physician Assistant, Nurse
- You must be stationed in the Eastern or Greater Accra Regions.

Knowledge
- Ability to devise and teach complex and detailed medical workshops.
