Job Summary
Rural Aid Alliance Foundation (RAAF), with over two decades of dedicated service in promoting healthcare access, education, good local governance, and economic opportunities in Ghana, is seeking a dynamic and experiencedResource Mobilisation Officer. This role is critical to the successful implementation of the Civil Society Strengthening Fund (CSSF) phase, focusing on three key pillars—financial sustainability, institutional strengthening, and operational support. Funded by Comic Relief and led by STAR Ghana Foundation with support from West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), the CSSF initiative aims to strengthen the resilience, responsiveness, and effectiveness of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Ghana. The Resource Mobilisation Officer will play a key role in supporting financial sustainability efforts under the CSSF initiative by working closely with RAAF’s leadership team to diversify funding streams and create long-term partnerships with foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual philanthropists.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Implement Resource Mobilisation Strategies:
- Design and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for RAAF’s social development activities.
- Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with potential donors, including foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual philanthropists.
- Explore and develop innovative funding streams, including grants, partnerships, social enterprises, and income-generating activities.
Grant Writing and Proposal Development:
- Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals to national and international donors, ensuring alignment with RAAF’s strategic goals and donor priorities.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather necessary data, stories, and impact metrics to support proposals and donor reports.
Donor Relations and Stewardship:
- Maintain regular communication with existing donors to update them on project progress, impact, and financial needs.
- Develop and manage donor engagement plans, ensuring timely reporting, acknowledgment, and relationship building.
Financial Planning and Budget Management:
- Assist in the development of project budgets and ensure resource mobilisation activities are aligned with financial sustainability goals.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of fundraising initiatives, providing analysis and recommendations for improvement.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Provide training and support to RAAF staff and partners on resource mobilisation, including grant writing, donor engagement, and financial sustainability.
- Work closely with STAR Ghana Foundation and West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) to ensure alignment and collaboration on capacity-building activities under the institutional strengthening pillar of the CSSF full delivery plan.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL):
- Support the development and management of systems to track and evaluate the effectiveness of resource mobilization efforts.
- Contribute to generating insights and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in fundraising strategies and practices.
Required Skills or Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in resource mobilisation, fundraising, or a related role within the non-profit sector.
- Proven track record in securing funding from diverse sources, including international donors, corporations, and foundations.
- Experience in grant writing, proposal development, and donor reporting.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities with a focus on sustainability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with experience in engaging with donors and partners.
- Financial acumen, with the ability to develop budgets, analyze financial data, and report on financial performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the civil society landscape in Ghana.
- Understanding of the health, education, and economic empowerment sectors.
Reporting Structure
- Reports To: Program Manager, Rural Aid Alliance Foundation
- Supervises: May supervise interns involved in resource mobilisation activities.
- Collaborates With: Program teams, finance and administrative staff, external partners, WACSI, and STAR Ghana Foundation.
Work Environment
- Location: Based in Takoradi, Ghana, with occasional travel to project sites and partner locations within the country.
- Work Hours: Regular office hours with flexibility needed for donor meetings, proposal deadlines, and events.
