An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Midwife to join our team. We currently have positions available at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital.
Our community team care for a diverse group of women and families providing high quality midwifery care. The community midwife teams work in a named midwife model in GP practices, Children’s centres and at home. The service is led by the Community Matron and each team compromises of the Team Leader, Community Midwives, Maternity Support Workers and Community Administrators. Appointed applicants will be well supported and offered a personalised orientation on appointment.
Our midwives work a varied range of shift patterns which includes weekends, bank holidays and an on call rota system to support women who choose to labour at home and the Birth Centre.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
- To be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care, using a holistic and innovative approach to practice and to develop a plan of care, which is women centred and evidence based.
- Support, supervise and teach less junior staff, students, supports workers on the relevant clinical and non-clinical procedures and practices. Act as a practice assessor and mentor to students as required.
- Perform and maintain required clinical procedures competently.
- Competently use clinical equipment, undertaking relevant training as required.
- Communicate and work effectively with the wider team.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- To participate on call rota system to support women who choose to labour at home and the Birth Centre.
- Lead professional in providing total care and support for women who request a homebirth.
- Utilise highly developed physical skills where appropriate i.e. suturing within the clients’ home and hospital setting. Carry out all relevant forms of care including emergency interventions within the community and hospital environment.
- Participate in Clinical Governance by reporting serious incidents and taking a proactive role in service development.
- Participate in programmes of parent education and within the hospital/community setting.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife on the NMC register
- Diploma/BSc in Midwifery Studies
Experience
Essential
- Has worked in a variety of settings using all midwifery skills
- Understands the application of the child protection processes and the mental health act
- Can demonstrate a knowledge of current and emerging health care issues
- Experience of caring for at risk/socially excluded service users
Salary: £35392.00 to £42618.00 Yearly
