Here is the Latest Employment Opportunity available at Worldreader. Worldreader seeks a business development manager in West Africa to support Worldreader’s growth and advancement efforts in the region.

The Manager of Partnerships Development, West Africa will focus on partnership identification and management, covering activities that will range from market analysis, and negotiation to partnership management and stewardship, targeting international and national non-profit organizations, bilateral and multilateral organizations, private school networks, telcos, digital companies, and the business sector.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Africa and with a dotted line to the Director of International Development (based in Barcelona), the candidate will also work with Worldreader’s global impact teams to effectively design and secure partnerships that align with Worldreader’s growth plans for West Africa.

This is a full-time position, based in our offices in Ghana, Accra .

Responsibilities:

Fundraising, Earned Revenue & Partnership Development (75%)

  • Act as the day-to-day development manager for regional fundraising and partnerships development.
  • Search, screen, and select growth and fundraising partnerships.
  • Serve as the account manager for a portfolio of 40-50 organizations, ensuring best partnership management practices.
  • Along with the support of the global south development leadership team, co-create partnerships with international and national development and educational organizations, as well as to provide strategic fundraising initiatives that can be used for international and US fundraising.
  • Proactively engage and secure partnerships with digital businesses and initiatives that align with Worldreader West Africa’s impact growth and advancement goals.
  • Prepare, collect and develop materials for advancement purposes.

Management, Planning and Coordination (25%)

  • Supervise and coordinate interns and volunteers who support development plans with specific tasks, such as partner screening and events.
  • Manage, overview and maintain West Africa’s overall account portfolio, opportunities pipeline, and business development documentation.
  • Support the implementation of West Africa’s communication plan, led by the Senior Director of Africa, providing inputs, information, and resources to PR agencies and to Worldreader’s global marketing and communication team.
  • Collect and share strategic market and customer insights, trends, and updates from West Africa that inform growth and impact strategy for the region.
  • Participate in continuous capacity building of Worldreader’s global teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing specialization with at least five years of related experience required.
  • Excellent portfolio and organizational management skills.
  • and Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • IT fluency and ability to use CRM and project management tools like Salesforce and Monday.com.
  • Be proactive and maintain focus in a day-to-day multi-task environment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with a knack for developing long-lasting relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google suite apps.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% nationally and internationally.
  • Proof of passion for the power of books, digital technology, and education to change the world.
