Job Description

  • Job reports to: CSR Superintendent

Job Purpose

  • To assist in managing the acquisition and negotiation of land access for exploration and mining projects

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in negotiating crop rate agreements with stakeholders, ensuring fair compensation, and addressing concerns
  • Ensure that all land access activities comply with the Minerals and Mining Act, regional and local regulations, etc.
  • Assist in securing the required permits and approvals for land access for operations, and ensure compliance with permit conditions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate records of all land access and compensation agreements, activities, and related documentation
  • Assist in developing and implementing community engagement programs to foster positive relationships with the local community and other stakeholders
  • Assist in addressing and resolving conflicts related to land access, compensation, and community concerns
  • Assist in developing strategies to mitigate negative environmental and social impacts and enhance positive contributions to local communities

  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders on land access and compensation activities and compliance status
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the Supervisor

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification (s)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Economy, Land Management, Geomatic Engineering or a related field
Experience (Minimum)
  • Four (4) years of post-qualification experience in a similar role in the mining industry
  • Experience in community engagement and conflict resolution
  • Must be able to speak at least one of the following local languages: Talen or Guruni (Frafra)
Knowledge (In-depth)
  • Good working knowledge of the Minerals and Mining (Compensation and Resettlement) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2175)
  • Good knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) may be advantageous
  • Strong Knowledge of land tenure systems and property rights of the Upper East region
Skills
  • Strong negotiation, and interpersonal with good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
