Job Description

The Luminos Fund, an international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world’s most marginalized children, is looking for a Program Analyst to help maximize the impact of its foundational learning programs across various geographies.

This is a full-time, one-year contract based in Accra, although we will also consider candidates based in London who are fluent in at least one of the government-sponsored Ghanaian languages. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the education sector and demonstrate enthusiasm for addressing the global learning crisis. Candidates should also have a proactive work ethic, outstanding attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn. The Program Analyst will report to the Director of Teaching and Learning and collaborate closely with team members throughout the organization. The role will likely involve some travel to challenging contexts in Africa and the Middle East.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Analyst will:

  • Develop teaching and learning materials, including teacher guides and student books for foundational literacy and numeracy programs (full training will be provided).
  • Support the design and implementation of Trainings of Trainers and teacher trainings.
  • Design assessments in close collaboration with the Impact Team.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of other core components of structured pedagogy.
  • Oversee specific programs, including managing contracts, writing donor reports, and advising on overall program strategy.
  • Stay current with research evidence on teaching and learning to support colleagues, including the Development and Communications team.
  • Support the Director of Programs, in close coordination with key colleagues, in streamlining and strengthening Luminos’ teaching and learning approaches across country programs.

Please note that the Luminos Fund is a highly dynamic work environment, and the role holder may need to take on additional workstreams not included in the description above. In some instances, they will face challenges in areas where they are not experts and where situations are ambiguous. They will need to scope out known information, propose and appraise response options, and then own and drive the implementation solutions.

Required Skills or Experience

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Development Economics, Global Education, or another relevant discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in the nonprofit, private, or public sector, preferably with international organizations and in education programming.
  • Oral and written proficiency in at least one of the government-sponsored Ghanaian languages.
  • Experience with project management, including managing tight timelines in low-resource contexts, with multiple competing priorities.
  • Comfort with numbers and ability to analyze quantitative data.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity to produce high-quality work against tight deadlines.
  • Prior experience working in multicultural environments and across time zones.
  • Outstanding writing skills and meticulous attention to detail.
