Here are the most recent job openings at JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI). Six data collectors are needed by JSI for a project centred on gender-based intervention.

Job Description

  • The Gender Based Intervention is a CDC funded project implemented by JSI that seeks to develop and evaluate family focused interventions to improve childhood immunization uptake in the Kpone Katamanso district of Ghana’s Greater Accra region.

  • To improve children vaccination, the method is to promote improved family engagement in childhood vaccinations to help female carers by leveraging male engagement and supporting shared decision-making within the household.
  • The project is in the second phase of implementation. As part of the activities for this phase, monthly community conversations will be held in three implementing communities in the Kpone Katamanso district.

Contractor: Data Collector (Six positions)

  • Period of engagement: December 2023 to May 2024 [Exact Dates to be Determined]
  • Level of Effort: Approximately 3 day per month from December – April, and 10 days in May for an approximate total of 25 days
  • Location: Kpone Katamanso District, Ghana

Responsibilities

The prospective data collector(s) will work closely with the projects’ Immunization Technical Consultant based in Accra and be responsible for conducting rapid interviews among community members attending monthly community conversations. Specific duties will include:

  1. Data Collection:
    1. Conduct monthly rapid interviews as per the project’s data collection plan; this will include a mix of in-person and phone interviews
    2. Conduct phone interviews during project’s endline; house to house interviews may be required if we are unable to reach participants via phone
    3. Ensure accurate and complete data collection in accordance with project requirements.
    4. Maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
  2. Data Recording:
    • Accurately record collected data using designated tools and formats.
    • Ensure data records are well-organized and easily retrievable.
  3. Data Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct data quality checks and validations during and after data collection.
    • Report any data quality issues or discrepancies to project management.
  4. Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit data collection reports as scheduled or required.
  5. Adaptation and Flexibility:
    • Be prepared to adapt to changing circumstances and data collection requirements.
  6. Privacy and confidentiality
    • Ensure that the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals are always protected.
    • Adhere to the project’s established privacy and confidentiality protocols and standards.
    • Report any breaches of privacy or confidentiality to project management.

Required Skills or Experience

The prospective data collector(s) should possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Diploma certificate in any health-related discipline or social sciences
  • Experience in data collection and recording.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using data collection tools and technology.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work in Kpone Katamanso District, Ghana.
  • Fluency in any of the following Ghanaian languages: Akan, Ga, Dangme, Ewe
