JOB PURPOSE

  • To oversee all financial tasks of the organization and ensure efficient and effective use of capital and resources.
  • Head of Finance responsibilities include creating forecasting models and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations. To be successful in this role, the jobholder should have experience crafting financial strategies and managing accounting teams.
  • The jobholder is responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial health and increase profitability in the long run.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide sound management to the Finance Department.
  • Manage and maintain sound internal control system.
  • Manage year end statutory obligations.
  • Provide relevant contribution to business strategy formulation and implementation.

Required Skills or Experience

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Must have in-depth understanding of financial statements and financial systems.
  • Ability to create accurate reports to meet internal reporting and analysis requirements.
  • Ability to take multiple data sets and variables and create meaningful reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Possess proven project management skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex numerical data.
  • High degree of technical/system aptitude including Excel, Access, and Data Warehousing.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic Thinking Ability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Certified Accountant with a minimum of 10+ years’ relevant work experience in finance or auditing
  • Prior process improvement experience is required.
  • Managerial experience in a Life Insurance Company will be an added advantage.
