Job Description
Job Purpose
- To provide technical support and leadership in performing and engineering all electrical and instrumentation designs, equipment selection for the project including facilities maintenance functions.
- This includes the effective execution of all electrical and instrumentation engineering aspects of the mine construction including the resolution of challenges to ensure that the mine’s property, plant and equipment / infrastructure is built to design specifications in line with regulatory and company standards and to achieve the required project milestones. This includes assisting to scope, source and build new diesel power plants and support operations by monitoring and servicing power distribution facilities.

Primary Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Display due diligence in safety & health, and environmental matters and lead by example to ensure the successful implementation of the Safety & Health Management System, and the Environmental Management System.
- Develop and implement effective, electrical, instrumentation and control standards and procedures. This includes helping to set up and Lead the Preventive maintenance program for, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control development and upgrades (operational).
- Manage electrical, power or energy systems, designs, infrastructure and execution of related works/projects. This includes the Manage contractor and consultants and key stakeholders involved in the design, delivery and construction of related infrastructure. This includes being accountable for the integrity, reliability, and operability of all electrical, power/energy and instrumentation and automation equipment installations and maintenance at the site.
- Perform engineering design and related duties including power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor/equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding, cable distribution design, schematic, single line, termination schedule and wiring design. This includes preparing and interpreting instrumentation drawings, schematic diagrams, and plans; conducting QA/QC inspections of the electrical activities and providing direction to the team.

- Manage engineering activities according to plans, legislation, client needs, best practices and principles to conform to standards, methods and procedures. This includes identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process.
- Manage electrical, instrumentation and control operation readiness and ensures process control reliability and long-term strategy. This includes being responsible for the successful execution of process plant electrical and instrumentation and controls commissioning and quality of work performed as well as coordinating the Plant electrical and instrumentation engineering resources (people; equipment; spares/consumables); and facilities to ensure processing utilization and cost management objectives meet or exceed targets.
- Coordinate with all departments regarding major equipment shutdowns and service and support needs including facilities and vehicles.
- Ensure that the Plant’s “Information System” is updated. This includes Ensure reports are accurate and submitted on time (daily; weekly; monthly); carrying out ICAM investigations and ensuring any issues arising from such are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Provides technical support for the team, as and when required. This incudes training and mentoring for the team (especially safety standards and procedures), promoting good Process Plant Engineering Division behaviour. Motivate team to become “performance driven”. This includes ensuring that all Process Plant Engineering Division personnel and contractors, work in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the project/ Company as assigned by the Supervisor.
