Bawumia must resign from Economic Management Team.
According to the Minority in Parliament, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s vice president, should continue to be held primarily responsible for the country’s economic predicament.
The Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, emphasised that Dr. Bawumia needed to “resign as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team now to save the Ghanaian cedi and the economy of Ghana” as some Majority MPs and the Minority in Parliament increased pressure on the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
If it had been possible, the Minority claimed it would have utilised its authority to pursue the Vice President.

“I believe that he [Ofori-Atta] did not do this alone. The Vice President must be made to step aside as the chairman of the Economic Management Team because he has failed woefully.”
“Unfortunately, Parliament does not have the right to censure him on that grounds. If not, we would have gone after him first,” Mr. Forson said.
Following the return of Parliament from recess, several Majority MPs demanded the expulsion of Mr. Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen, the Minister of State for the Finance Ministry.
A proposal for a vote of censure against the finance minister has also been submitted by the minority.
