Why is Friday, December 2nd, 2022 declared a holiday in Ghana?
Friday, December 2nd, 2022, marks Farmers Day in Ghana. As such, the day is to be celebrated and observed as a public and statutory holiday.
Farmers’ Day is commemorated in Ghana every year on the first Friday in December and, in years with general elections, the first Friday in November.

The President of the Republic of Ghana has, by an Executive Instrument (EI), declared a public holiday in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (601).
The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, issued a press release with the aforementioned information (the Declaration) to the general public.

The general public is hereby reminded that Friday, 2nd December, 2022 which marks Farmers’ Day is a Statutory Public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
2nd December, 2022 falls on a Friday and therefore, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has by an Executive Instrument (EI), and in accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (601) declared Friday, 2nd December, 2022 as a Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
