Taraji P. Henson Set to Return as Host of BET Awards 2022

The show’s slogan is “Culture’s Biggest Night,” a clever twist on the long-time Grammy slogan, “Music’s Biggest Night.”

Taraji P. Henson will host the BET Awards again in 2022, which will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 26.
Last year’s BET Awards, which Henson hosted, were the highest-rated cable award event among all adults 18-49 in 2021.

I am honored to return as the host of the BET Awards and share the stage with so many powerful and prolific artists; you can even say it is the ‘empire’ of Black excellence,” the former Empire star said in a statement.

2022 BET Awards Nominations Announced: Full List Of Nominees

Taraji P. Henson is the personification of Black excellence, and we are excited to collaborate with the phenomenal multi-talented stage and screen actress to host the ultimate celebration of Black culture again this year,” said Connie Orlando, evp specials, music programming & music strategy at BET.

Following Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer (2001-02), Mo’Nique (2003-04), and black-ish co-stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, Henson is the fourth host or hosting pair in the show’s history to head the show for two years in a row (2015-16).

Henson has won six BET Awards for best actress for her roles in films such as Hustle & Flow and Hidden Figures, as well as the television series Empire.
She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in 2008, and she has three Emmy nominations for Fox’s Empire and Lifetime’s Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.

The BET Awards is one of cable television’s most popular award shows.
The BET Awards franchise is still the most popular African-American program on cable television, and it is BET’s most watched telecast every year.

On Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the 2022 BET Awards will telecast.
On the East Coast, the show will air live, but on the West Coast, it will be on tape delay.
