NSMQ 2022 Today: Day 2 Fixtures for the Eighth Stage
Day one of the One-Eighth Stage yesterday, Saturday, October 15, 2022, of this year’s competition saw some seeded schools like Wesley Girls Senior High School and Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi, abort seeds, meaning they have to start from the regional level in next year’s competition.
The stage is set for day two of the one-eighth contests of this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), which will take place today, Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Only schools that win their contests in this stage will proceed to the next level of the competition.

Here are the contests for today, Sunday, October 16, 2022, for NSMQ 2022.
The Repeat, Revenge or ‘Shockprise’ Contest?
One of the anticipated crucial contests would involve Prempeh College, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Ofori Panin SHS.
The reigning champions will compete against an old opponent out for revenge in that contest.
The Kumasi-based school won its fourth championship in 2017 after narrowly defeating St. Thomas Aquinas in Accra.
St. Thomas Aquinas, who was denied a second championship in the nail-biting championship game, has since been unable to leave a lasting mark worthy of their standing.
They were eliminated from the competition after two consecutive losses in the eighth-round stage, which dropped them to the regional qualifying rounds. One of those losses was suffered at the hands of Prempeh College in a futile attempt to exact revenge on Aquinas in 2020.

OPASS has high expectations for surpassing PREMPEH and ACQUINAS. All three institutions’ supporters hold out great hopes for a victory.
