Passengers are furious after another increase in transport fares.
Following an overnight increase in transportation costs driven on by the most recent increase in fuel prices, several passengers have become disgruntled.
As a result of the increase in fuel prices on November 1, drivers in the Greater Accra Region increased their charges on Wednesday morning.
Last week, transportation costs had jumped by 19%.

Diesel is now selling for over GH$23 per litre this week, while petrol is at about GH$18 per litre.

Some of the Neoplan Station drivers who spoke to Accra-based CitiTV on Citi News attributed the fare increase to the rising cost of fuel.

“It is not the driver’s fault. It is not the passenger’s fault… If the government can reduce the fuel prices, we will come back to the previous price because people are suffering,” one driver told Citi News.
“We are just worried, and we don’t know what we are going to do now… it is very bad. The government needs to do something about it. We are suffering,” One passenger remarked.
“On Monday, I paid GHS6 to Circle. This morning, I paid GHS7.5… “The driver is even complaining that if he takes GHS100, he won’t get a gallon of diesel to buy.”, according to another passenger.
