Suspended A/R NSS director to face probe committee on Monday.
Alex Opoku-Mensah, the suspended Ashanti Region Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), is expected to appear before a committee formed to probe claims of verbal abuse against a nurse.
The committee was formed by the scheme’s management during an emergency meeting on Wednesday, November 30.
This follows claims that Mr Opoku-Mensah verbally abused a nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital.
On a leaked recording of their furious exchange, Mr Opoku-Mensah can be heard yelling at the hospital nurse who serves his daughter (the doctor).
According to reports, the health worker asked Mr Opoku Mensah’s daughter, a junior doctor, to review her prescription for a patient.

The NSS Director for the Ashanti Region has subsequently apologised, claiming it is not characteristic of him.
“This has never been my style but for a genuine reason to mediate a persistent issue between my daughter(Doctor) and a colleague nurse who I as well consider my daughter.
“I do apologize for any mishap and assure all, there shall not be a repetition of such. I look forward to maintaining a cordial relationship between any affected person.”
But a committee made up of officials from the Ministry of Education, the Public Services Commission, and the NSS has been constituted to look into the matter and provide a report within a month.
