Where Are the NSMQ 2021 Nine Finalists Now?

Every year, the brightest and best Science & Maths students from public senior high schools around the country compete for the coveted title of National Science & Maths Quiz champion.

Beyond the quiz, several of these participants have gone on to achieve remarkable things, including admittance to extremely competitive universities all across the world.

The NSMQ’s nine (9) Finalists for the 2021 edition followed this history, with several of them continuing their great achievements in the spotlight.

Where Are the NSMQ 2021 Nine Finalists Now?

Let us begin with the contestants for the reigning champions, Prempeh College, Eden Nana Kyei Obeng, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, and Evans Oppong.

Eden Nana Kyei Obeng, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, and Evans Oppong successfully secured admission to their first choice Universities and programmes after leading their school to their fifth NSMQ Trophy.

Eden is at the California Institute of Technology, which has a reputation for being one of the most difficult colleges to get into.
He is the first student from a Ghanaian public high school to be admitted to this highly elite university in years.

Majeed is in his first year at the University of Ghana Medical School, while Evans is pursuing Electrical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

PRESEC-Legon

Even though the PRESEC-Legon squad narrowly missed out on winning the #NSMQ2021 trophy, Henry Mawunya Otumfuo, Prince Debrah Appiah Jnr, and Joel Aboagye are on a path to glory and success.

Prince is the only student from a public Ghanaian high school to be admitted to not one, but fourteen U.S. universities in one application cycle, including Columbia University, Cornell University, and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the best technological university in the world (as one of 1,365 admitted out of 33,240), and Stanford University.

The well-known Otumfuo enrolled in the University of Ghana Medical School along with Prempeh College’s Majeed and colleague Joel.

Keta SHTS

Francisca Lamini, James Lutterodt, and Bright Senyo Godzo of Keta SHTS, who made history as the first school from the Volta Region to reach the NSMQ Final, continue to dazzle with the next step in their post-high school lives.

Francisca Lamini is a student at Harvard College studying biological science with the intention of going into medicine.

James is pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the University of Ghana, Legon, while Bright has enrolled in the Electrical Engineering programme at KNUST.
