Sammy Gyamfi was born on March 28, 1989. Although he spent the majority of his early years in Kumasi, Sammy is originally from Sunyani in Ghana’s Bono Region. He attended St. James Seminary Senior High School for his secondary education before earning his first degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His involvement in politics during his time at KNUST was well known. During his first year at KNUST, he developed an interest in politics.

Sammy Gyamfi’s Political Career

In his first year at Kwame Nkrumah University, Sammy developed an interest in politics. Initially he was found to be with the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He later suffered some discrimination and intolerance from the TESCON group at that time which triggered in him dislike for the NPP from that time onwards.

He then resorted to joining the tertiary group of the National Democratic Congress, TEIN-NDC from that time where his outspoken nature won him the hearts of several campus party members.

Sammy Gyamfi’s NDC journey has been nothing short of spectacular. Because of his insightful, outspoken, and in-depth knowledge of politics, he ended up becoming the president of TEIN-NDC between 2011 and 2012. Afterwards, he worked as the Public Relations Officer and spokesperson for the Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Kojo Bonsu, from 2012 to 2016.

However, the politician was appointed to the Students Representative Council when he was a student at the Ghana School of Law. At one point, he served as the Exton Cubic Mining Group’s communication director, working for Ibrahim Mahama. Later, he was elected to serve as the NDC’s national communications officer.

Following his graduation from the Ghana Law School, Mr. Gyamfi was called to the bar on October 5th, 2018.
