Before starting with the application process, it is important to prepare a checklist of documents that are required to move ahead.
Standardized Test Scores
It is always suggested to have your Standardized Test Scores with you before you began the application process. Scores of standardized Tests like GRE, GMAT, or SAT, or ACT should be with you when you are beginning with the application process as it can help you select the universities where you can apply.
English Language Proficiency Test Scores
Various universities ask for English Language Proficiency Test scores of the candidates before deciding on their application. English Language Proficiency Tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores are required to get into the majority of the universities in major English speaking countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the UK. Even various universities in Germany and France also ask candidates to submit language proficiency scores while giving admission.
Academic Transcripts
This is one of the most important sets of documents that are asked by the universities at the time of giving admission. A transcript has a detailed record of all the subjects you have studied in the form of marks or grades given by the institution of study. Usually, students going for undergraduates courses need scores of class 9 and upwards. Those who are still in class 12th would require the scores/marks of class 9th, 10th, and 11th. Those who are applying master’s courses require mark sheets of their bachelor’s degree both individual mark sheets for every year and cumulative mark sheets as well. A student need not worry about getting the marks converted to GPAs as per the American Credit System.
Proof of finances
This is one of the most important aspects of the application. Even if you secure admission, you still need to show appropriate proof funds, then only you will secure final admission. The amount of funds needs to show depends on the university to university and its location. Here the candidates can show the income of their family as well. You can also show education loans, scholarships, etc. to fund your education and other living expenses. Apart from this, it is always advisable to keep your income tax returns handy to show the source of funds.
It is always good to request for transcript early, as the university administration takes time to issue these and other documents required for getting admission. Apart from this, universities also ask for Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letter of Recommendation (LOR). So, you need to give some time to your recommenders/professors to write a LOR for you. Make sure you have these documents way before the deadline. It is recommended to submit the application before the deadline, as late applicants are not considered for any type of financial aid and scholarships as well. Therefore, it is important to submit the application on time.
