Applications are now open for international students for the MISTRAL Excellence Scholarship at the University of Avignon, France.
The MISTRAL scholarship program is intended for high-level foreign students enrolled in a higher education establishment abroad who wish to pursue studies at Avignon University with a view to obtaining a Master’s degree.
Avignon University is a public university located in Avignon, France, that was founded in 1303. Avignon University is spread across two campuses: the Hannah Arendt Campus, located in the centre of the city, and the Jean-Henri Fabre Campus, situated outside the municipal boundaries and housing the Agroparc facility for STEM education and research as well as the Avignon University Institute of Technology.
In 2021, the university was awarded the ERASMUS University Charter for Higher Education by the European Commission. The university is well known for reaching out to overseas students.

MISTRAL scholarship holders are exempted from national registration fees and differentiated registration fees applicable to students from countries outside the European Economic Area for registration in a Master’s program at Avignon University.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship applicant must:
- Be enrolled in a higher education institution abroad at the time of application. Priority will be given to candidates enrolled in a partner higher education institution of Avignon University
- Have a very good academic record and meet thethe academic and linguistic criteria set by the teaching team of the course concerned at Avignon University
- Not to have interrupted their studies for more than a year
- Apply for registration in Master 1 or 2 at Avignon University for the academic year 2024-2025
- Not already reside in France
- Be under 28 years old on December 31, 2024
- Never have applied for the Mistral Excellence Scholarship (except in the case of a renewal)
- Not benefit from another scholarship for the training requested. Applying for the Mistral program does not exclude applying for another grant application in parallel with the Mistral application.

Benefits of the Scholarship
The total amount of the Mistral scholarship is 6,000 euros. This sum will be paid to candidates selected for M1 and M2 each year. The scholarship is paid in three installments, as follows:
- €3,000 after registration and arrival of the student at Avignon University
- €2,500 from February
- €500 from May.
