Job Summary

The Manager – Budget, Grant and Finance provides financial and technical management for overall country budgets, grant budgets, expense monitoring and timely preparation and submission of financial reports. and manages and tracks budgets, forecasting, and supporting grant management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external project/grant audits, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of financial reports to funders, in coordination with the Manager – Accounting and Financial Administration.
  •  Partner with the Manager – Accounting and Financial Administration to maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial transactions, records, and systems to support audit requirements as it relates to grants/projects.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets in collaboration with the Manager – Accounting and Financial Administration and Country Leader.
  •  Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights for informed decision-making and budget adjustments.
  • Collaborate with program managers to oversee financial aspects of grant applications, awards, and reporting.
  • Ensure proper allocation and utilization of grant funds according to donor restrictions and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Education (Minimum Needed and Type of Degree Needed):
  • Minimum Required: bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or MBA preferred; Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is highly desirable.

Experience Required

  • Minimum Required: 5 years of proven experience in grants financial management, budgeting, audit, and compliance, including experience in managing donor-funded grants, subcontracts/ grants, and a good understanding of international government donor rules, preferably in a nonprofit or international organization context
  • Preferred: Non-profit setting with remote team structure, and experience in a fast-paced environment with a small team.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Spreadsheets and advanced knowledge of Excel is required.
  • Strong knowledge of local financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and manage finance team members.
  • Experience in risk management and implementation of internal controls.
  • Possess an understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to NGOs.
  • Accounting and audit practices related to donor-funded projects.
  • Sound judgment, able to troubleshoot problems, and come up with creative solutions, while also identifying issues that need to be escalated.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills, ability to prioritize.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; ability to work with colleagues and partners nationally and internationally.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a very flexible, fluid, and evolving environment.
  • Resourceful self-starter with the ability to independently multitask and prioritize.
